Merchandise Inventory Manager


The position of Merchandise Inventory Manager is accountable to lead and manage a team of merchandise coordinators and for the organization and flow of merchandise through the various stages of production in a photography studio for a high-volume ecommerce client.  A successful Merchandise Inventory Manager is a reliable professional with excellent record-keeping abilities and great attention to detail.  This role will ensure that all merchandise is tracked, organized and delivered on set in a timely manner to ensure that the photography production teams have adequate merchandise to achieve their objectives.  This position is expected to be very hands on to perform actual tracking tasks to be a model for the rest of the team.


Capacity to maintain and streamline an organized flow of merchandise through the studio, including:


  • Determine appropriate lanes of merchandise flow for check in, check out, and returns
  • Check and report on damages or missing pieces
  • Ensure merchandise are organized to maximize photography production efficiency
  • Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures
  • Standardize workflow to maximize efficiency
  • Collaboration with Production Director VP of Photo Engineering regarding production obstacle resolution and workflow standardization


Capacity to maintain data accuracy within the tracking database, including:

  • Ensure that merchandise is accurately scanned in when received and scanned out out for returns
  • Record daily deliveries and shipments to reconcile inventory
  • Track and resolved discrepancies in shipment records and inventory
  • Provide merchandise status reports and tracking to upper management and client


Capacity to build and manage an informed, dynamic and highly motivated staff and support team, including:

  • Clear communication of job expectations and workflow processes
  • Performance monitoring relative to defined expectations, maintaining a close dialog regarding progress and improvement
  • Hire appropriate personnel and provide training and mentorship


 Capacity to represent Sandbox to clients and partners, including:

  • Collaborate with warehouse associates and other partners to ensure business goals are met
  • Provide reporting to clients


  • Excellent people management and motivational skills
  • Proven experience as inventory manager or similar position
  • Working knowledge of inventory management software
  • Ability to accurately track inventory and create reports
  • Detail oriented, well organized and proficient at multi-tasking
  • Excellent excel and data experience
  • Ability to work in a team and prioritize with multiple requests and moving targets
  • Ability to problem solve and implement new processes when necessary
  • Ability to be autonomous and a self-starter when needed
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and follow through skills
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
