    Digital Services & Equipment Coordinator

     

    The Digital Services & Equipment Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Digital Services & Equipment Supervisor in providing excellent digital capture and photography equipment to our photography and video clients.  Furthermore, this position is responsible for maintaining the studio’s in-house inventory of lighting, grip, and digital capture equipment and placing equipment orders with rental houses. Additionally, this person will be able to act as a photo assistant or digital tech on set as needed.

    Responsibilities

    Maintain Studio Lighting and Digital Capture Equipment

    • Keep current and maintain completeness and usability of lighting & grip equipment, photographic equipment, sets, props, tools, staging and storage areas
    • Oversee all photographic equipment repairs and maintenance
    • Keep photo equipment areas clean and organized
    • Wipe down all lighting equipment and capture stations on a regular basis
    • Maintain and replenish photography expendables
    • Assist Equipment and Digital Services Supervisor in tracking and allocating all photographic equipment
    • Coordinate the ordering and pick-up of all equipment orders with rental houses
    • Oversee all equipment deliveries and pick-ups to any off-site or on-location productions
    • Create prep sheets for all photo sets
    • Oversee and maintain studio prop, set component and set flooring libraries
    • Troubleshoot all digital systems on set and understanding the steps to reset systems when the Digital Services & Equipment Supervisor is unavailable
    • Provide customer service to internal and client’s photography teams
    • Calibrate EQ, troubleshoot cameras, digital backs, systems and software

    Act as Photography Assistant or Digital Technician

    • Responsible for fulfilling the role of on-set digital technician, photo assistant, or camera operator as necessary
    • Work in tandem with the photographer to maintain the production workflow and creative output of images
    • When working as a digital technician, key responsibilities are to collect, edit and process all digital images and to keep track of files to make sure everything is shot
    • Ensure that RAW images are color balanced, exposed, adjusted and processed to meet creative vision and technical specifications
    • Perform light layout, layering and naming of files, creative retouching on set
    • Oversee photo set preps and rips, whether directly or by supporting freelance photo assistants
    • Have a working knowledge of the capture and data management software to be able to provide training and troubleshoot

    Qualifications

    • 2 year college degree or higher from an accredited Art/Photography institution
    • Minimum of 2 years’ digital photography studio assistance
    • On-set experience working with photographers
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly under pressure.
    • Extremely organized and has proven success in deadline driven environments
    • Excellent time management and people skills
    • Knowledge of and/or experience with medium format cameras, all major digital backs and high-end DSLR cameras
    • An understanding of lighting and photography, both technically and creatively
    • Fluent in Capture One and Leaf Capture image processing software
    • Familiar with Apple OS and hardware: G5, G4, and Intel
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom, FTP software, and Excel
    • Experience working with servers and raids a plus
    • Ability to lift 30 pounds
